Network - Computing environment with more than one independent processor interconnected to permit communications and sharing of resources. Can be local area network or wide area network.


Network - A group of computers and associated devices that are connected by communications facilities. A network can involve permanent connections, such as cables, or temporary connections made through telephone or other communications links. A network can be as small as a local area network consisting of a few computers, printers, and other devices, or it can consist of many small and large computers distributed over a vast geographic area.

Network - An open communications medium, typically the Internet, that is used to transport messages between the claimant and other parties. Unless otherwise stated no assumptions are made about the security of the network; it is assumed to be open and subject to active (e.g., impersonation, man-in-the-middle, session hijacking…) and passive (e.g., eavesdropping) attack at any point between the parties ( claimant, verifier, CSP or relying party).
