NSA-Approved Cryptography - Hardware, firmware, or software implementations of cryptographic algorithms which have been reviewed and approved, or certified and approved by the NSA, the purposes of which are to protect national security or DoD sensitive information or systems in a specific application and intended operational environment. NSA-Approved Cryptography - Cryptography that consists of: (i) an approved algorithm; (ii) an implementation that has been approved for the protection of classified information in a particular environment; and (iii) a supporting key management infrastructure.
